In the Direct, my interest had been piqued by the vibrant, detailed pixel-art aesthetic and the varied-looking turn-based combat so the demo came at an ideal time for me to jump in and see if Sea of Stars could fully grab my attention. In addition to the short showcase of gameplay footage, we received the announcement of a new demo for the game, which I promptly proceeded to download and play on my Nintendo Switch. Brown, Sea of Stars is poised to be one of the must-play games of the year.The recent Nintendo Direct contained many highlights, and one standout for me was the upcoming RPG Sea of Stars from Sabotage Studio, developers of the critically-acclaimed The Messenger. With a stunning soundtrack, including original works by legendary composer Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger) and Sabotage Studio’s composer Eric W. Together, they use their Sun and Moon powers to cast powerful Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of defeating the monstrous creatures of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer. Sea of Stars follows the story of two Children of the Solstice, Valere and Zale, as they embark on their destiny as Solstice Warriors. The trailer highlights the modern and unique take on RPG exploration, combat, and storytelling. In addition to the demo, Sabotage Studio has also released a new gameplay trailer, offering a closer look at the game’s beautifully-realized universe and its revitalization of classic RPG strengths. Developer Sabotage Studio has announced that the turn-based RPG Sea of Stars will launch on August 29th for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation consoles.
